Paul Imholte
$10 at the door
7:30 Friday March 29th at BoDiddley’s
Paul Imholte is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and singer. He is best known as a hammered dulcimer player, but he is also on a first-name basis with the fiddle, mandolin, guitar and banjo, and has been seen in the company of the viola, cello, Autoharp, harmonica, jawharp, and spoons. (Forks and butter-knives at mealtimes only, though.) Paul writes and performs music that reflects Central Minnesota: his songs deal with old barns, tractors, kids, migrant workers, rutabagas, reluctant Springs, smoking horses, and ghosts in the attic. He also plays with Ring of Kerry, The Tarveys, and the Cristina Seaborn Trio. Paul has released nine CDs and is set to release an album of children music this summer. (Rutabaga tunes promised.)
“Paul is accomplished on any instrument that boasts a set of strings: dulcimer, fiddle, cello, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and likely some I haven’t even heard of.”–Mark Munger, Cloquet River Press
“Beautiful playing on the hammered dulcimer from Paul Imholte that sounds like a mountain burn in springtime–absolutely excellent stuff.”–John Davy, No Depression
“Paul Imholte. . . can play just about any stringed instrument imaginable.”–Duluth News-Tribune
