Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore
7:30 Sunday September 16th at BoDiddley’s
$18
Singer Mollie O’Brien and guitarist Rich Moore have impeccable folk-bluegrass and singer-songwriter credentials, but their songbag is a really big one, filled with all kinds of Americana from blues to gospel to jazz to Tin Pan Alley, and with material from writers as diverse as Lucinda Williams, Willie Dixon, Harry Nilsson, and Randy Newman. Rich has played with Pete Wernick and Tom Paxton, while Mollie had performed with her brother Tim and with Prairie Home Companion’s Hopeful Gospel Quartet. Now that their kids are grown up, Mollie and Rich are able to tour and record together—“just one voice and one guitar covering the whole range of great America music.”
“[Mollie] has the chameleon-like ability to interpret blues, country, folk, jazz, pop and gospel and had the capacity to make other people’s songs sound like they were written especially for her. This is the work of an artist at the peak of her powers.” –Rhythms magazine (Australia)
“Whenever I’m trying to work out a guitar arrangement I inevitably come to a point where I ask myself, ‘How would Rich play this?’ ” — Tom Paxton
“A sassy country singer with a bluesy shadow and an eye for a strong song”—Rolling Stone
“She doesn’t merely revive old song’s, she recasts them completely to fit her own personality.” Geoffrey Himes, Washington Post
